James Tyler
Business Development Manager
James Tyler is a fast starter. He interned at a start-up tech company in the tradeshow industry while in college. But instead of spending his time there fetching coffee, he immersed himself in the business. The result was a full time marketing/sales position immediately after graduation. James was part of the six-person sales team that took sales of that small company from $2.5 million to $10 million in just 18 months.
At the end of 2007, he joined Tytek Industries as Business Development Manager liaising with new and existing customers and getting involved at the ground level on all new projects in all of Tytek’s’ businesses. Mr. Tyler also travels to Asia to meet with suppliers face-to-face to discuss critical areas of products and projects.
James travels extensively for Tytek domestically and also in Asia, Europe and South America. Additionally, he travels as an ambassador for his alma mater, speaking to students about his experiences in the professional world and in international travel. His travel is made somewhat easier by the number of passports he holds – USA, UK, Canada.
In addition to being a fast-starter in business, he is plenty fast elsewhere. His #5 ranking in the country in tennis doubles at age 16 led him to a tennis scholarship at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. While continuing to play high-level competitive tennis, he has discovered the joys of sand volleyball as well. His musical instrument of choice is the drums and he makes his own beer with experimental recipes.
